AFCON 2015: Keshi To Blame If Nigeria Doesn’t Qualify, Says Okocha

Former Super Eagles skipper Austin Jay Jay Okocha says coach Stephen Keshi should be held responsible if Nigeria fails to qualify for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

According to report, the Super Sport football pundit added that he’s having a funny feeling about the whole situation as it concerns the Eagles’ chances of making it to the continental showpiece.

“Of course the coach should be held responsible because it his duty to psyche the boys up, to raise their energy levels, and also to play the right players with the right attitude,” the former Bolton midfielder said.

The popular club ten owner, who was in South Africa for Nigeria’s last qualification match against the Bafana Bafana where the Eagles earned a point, had said after that match “I woke up feeling gloomy, Football is all I know, it is 95% of my life. The feeling is natural. Our football generally is in total shambles.”

Okocha has never hidden his dislike for Keshi’s methods which had caused friction between the two when Okocha criticised the gaffer’s techniques during the last World Cup in Brazil.

The Eagles first play the Sudanese in Omdurman on Saturday, knowing that they can’t afford to drop any more points in the qualifying campaign, and then play the return leg in Abuja three days later, where any result other than a win may not be enough for the team to considering Congo and South Africa are placed higher on the table.
